Worker Rights

Here is a summarized list of worker rights bargained for workers of ULGA in the collective agreement and are legislated by the Alberta and Canadian governments:

  • Right to refuse unsafe work
  • Paid leave provisions – under our Collective Agreement for medical leave, family leave, parental leave, birth/adoption leave, bereavement leave, and compassionate leave.
  • What types of duties you are able to perform – as an employee you will be assigned duties you are expected to perform. These duties should support your professional development and support the teaching mandate of the university.
  • You will not be assigned duties that require you to be an essential service
