
Know Your Rights
As a worker, you are entitled to a range of rights and protections. Below is a summary of key rights that have been negotiated for ULGA members in the collective agreement, as well as those guaranteed under Alberta and Canadian labour legislation:
- Right to refuse unsafe work
- Work in a safe and harassment-and-discrimination-free workplace
- Paid leave provisions. Under our Collective Agreement for medical leave, family leave, parental leave, birth/adoption leave, bereavement leave, and compassionate leave.
- What types of duties you are able to perform. As an employee you will be assigned duties you are expected to perform. These duties should support your professional development and support the teaching mandate of the university.
- You will not be assigned duties that require you to be an essential service
