University of Lethbridge Graduate Association: Graduate Student’s Union

October 2021

Welcome new members!

If you are new to being academically employed, we urge you to read over the Collective Agreement (CA) which is linked here. For returning members, if you have not read the CA we recommend you do so as well so you understand your rights as an employee.

Upcoming Education Opportunities

Join us for a 45 minute lunch and learn where you will be introduced to the PSAC, meet graduate workers from across the province, and learn what it means to be in a union.

Register here for November 10 at 12pm OR November 11 at 3pm

All education provided virtually, no camera required.

Collective Bargaining Update

We have been hard at work getting our non-monetary package prepared to exchange with the Employer. We are proposing to meet with the Employer again in November. For more in depth updates, please visit our website: ulga.ca/bargaining/

Health and Wellness Update

As of November 1, employees of the University who have not reported that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be placed on “unpaid leave” until they are able to confirm that they are in compliance with the mandate. Any employee who remains unable to confirm that they are fully compliant with the mandate may face termination (the policy is available here). Exceptions are available only on limited human rights and medical grounds. Please ensure that you have disclosed your vaccination status before November 1. Should you need any assistance regarding vaccination please email us (gsa.labour@uleth.ca).

On behalf of ULGA, thank you for reading our newsletter. If you have any suggestions or questions please email us.

If you would like to get involved with the Labor Union Committee and ULGA we would love to have you!
