Your bargaining team met with the employer on July 30th and 31st. We had two days of productive meetings. We were able to agree to a number of proposals from both sides. We have been able to agree to improved language on Appointments and Assignment of Duties and Training. The process slowed down as we began negotiating new terms under the Leave provisions. This is due to both sides undertaking a major overhaul of the current language. Both sides have the same goal in making the language in this article easier to interpret. The current language is ambiguous and difficult to understand what members are entitled to. Throughout this process, we are pushing to expand and improve your leave entitlements. We have not tabled our monetary package at this time. We hope to settle some of the other big proposals before we begin the discussion on wages.
